Bustes en Rose: Art + Fashion Against Breast Cancer is a unique, extremely creative, and engaging fundraising event for the fight against Breast Cancer. On October 19, 2012 at the Zhou B Art Center over 30 artists and designers will showcase a unique bustier/corset in an exhibition to help raise funds for the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force. Each participating artist or designer has accepted the challenge to create a 3 dimensional bustier/corset in spite of their artistic medium. Co-Produced by 4 ART INC. and GERALDINE RODRIGUEZ PHOTOGRAPHY.

where have we been?

man, that is a very, very involved question. we have redone our websites, went through our first round of taxes, created opocinema.com, shot 8 weddings, polishing a documentary shot over the last 8 months, working on a couple music videos and going to st. thomas next week for a destination wedding!

see, i wasn’t lying.

it has been unfair to you.

we are so great for all of you who have been there from the beginning or who just started following us and our happenings. so here we are again, with some videos =)

you know what’s crazy? this was our first sde of the year. You know what’s crazier? it was 1 of 3 in the matter of 2 weeks (those to be posted shortly).

anyhow, we did completer fullest cinema production possible: slideshow + reception introduction film + sde.

justin and i met years ago when i covered a fashion show he did for autism speaks. not only is he a philanthropist with a big heart, but he is a teacher by day and artist by night. he may not call himself an artist, but just look at the gifts he gave his groomsmen:

custom. made. lego. cufflinks.

agnes, on one hand also has such a lovely heart and you can see it through her family- allan (the guy in the glasses in 51812) and arnold (the guy dancing in 51812). and by day, this ambitious lady is a doctor. how much more awesome can you add?

just a little.

the core of this video is the details they put into the wedding, from the amazing space they rented (architecturalartifacts.com) to the fish they sent their guests home with. for us, this was a reminder of love, how it’s in the details.

Kelli+Rich // This a very different wedding. They booked early August, which almost didn’t happen because we fere already loaded with weddings. But after seeing our SDE for Sheila+Russ, they pushed until we gave in. Well, we didn’t really give in—truth is, that’s the kind of couple we love to work with. Those that love and admire our cinema, not just the final product but all the work behind it. We let them know it wasn’t going to be easy and planning would be rough but it happened.

Truth be told, only Jimmy met up with them, my only encounter was when kelli came up to me after Sheila+Russ’ saying “If you’re free on the 14th, we want you!”

And we couldn’t have been happier to have said “yes” to their proposal =)

When we arrive, Rich was a nervous wreck, very talkative and pacing every other direction. He even called every one of his groomsmen to let them know the cinema team was there and they were running on time.

Kelly, on the otherhand (from the clips) looked ready and content with the day. It could be that she had little JP, aka John Paul, with her. That would be the adorable little boy you see throughout the film. He turned out to be the star of the show, even the title—Rich being his daddy and Kelli his mommy. That said, we named it “2 legs in 1”, not only because one of the grandmas said it, but because that’s what it was—Kelli and rich are the legs and little JP is their 1. On thing that rivals the beauty of marriage, is the blessing of a child.

Forgive my sappiness, but that’s them, Kelli+Rich = JP.

Cinema // It was a rough day shooting—windy, cloudy and tad bit nippy (english accent, ok, I’m weird). But we used it to our advantage.

We definitely wanted show the colors of fall, hence the intro and the blowing leaves ring shot.

There were 4 shooters in the morning, Jimmy, Jon, Hoang and myself—but I cut out after the ceremony to being the SDE.

Lighting was amazing at points and difficult at others. Both locations had beautiful windows, but because of the ever-shifting clouds, the white balance was changing (see 1:15 and 1:52).

Now for the main characters. They a huge bridal party and you will definitely see more in the revised highlight, but our focus was on the family for the SDE. It was beautiful seeing them all get together.

For audio, not much was utilized outside of ambient sounds, as they wanted to play it during their first dance.

The color was a custom grade, blacks had a blue tint, mids had a reddish tint and whites had a warm yellow-orange tint. We thought it would play well with the season of fall.

We celebrated our 2 year anniversary at our first location. We held an in-store reception in traditional AKIN fashion which entailed DJs, artists, drinks, and a taco truck. To commemorate our anniversary we released an ultra limited “PLAY 2 WIN” collaboration t-shirt with Jordan Motorsports. There are only 50 of these shirts available and they will be sold exclusively at the anniversary event!

Frank Ocean - We All Try // Alex de Guzman ft. Excel Cruz

As we reflect on the terror that was inflicted a decade ago in the world on 9-11, we must be thankful and appreciative for all that we have. For all those who are lost and those who have lost, we keep you in our prayers. Yes, 9-11 was a tragedy but it has brought everyone closer and made us truly realize how precious our time here on earth is. Hate and prejudice are inevitable due to human error but through our own free will we must try our best to do all we can to unite and make the world a better place.

Frank Ocean wrote a beautiful song called “We All Try” that I feel is relevant in everyday situations but truly special on this day. We must all try in order for us to progress and together we can accomplish anything. “I believe jehovah jireh. I believes there’s heaven. I believe in war…” -Frank Ocean

Everyday is a new opportunity to live and learn. Hopefully, we can all realize that not only should we recognize the impact it made on this day but everyday that we live.

it’s been a while since we’ve done an SDE, but I’m glad we had the time for it =)

sheila and russ are have been friends with me since college and it was truly an honor for them to trust us to capture it. so thank you both.

2 beautiful people with 2 beautiful smiles =D

the song we chose for them was one we were holding on until we found a fitting couple. russ definitely is the boy next door, who will wait on the doorstep for love. and sheila is the beauty deserving of his affection.
